Did you know that Megalodon shark were said to be almost 60 feet long at their largest? The average size was about 33 feet long, that is about the length of a school bus! The Megalodon shark eventually went extinct approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago. Scientists believe this was due to shifting ocean currents, main food source depletion, competition with other larger sharks like the Great White and also the migration of whales into arctic waters. Luckily, today we are able to get a glimpse at a leftover fossil of a Megalodon in the form of teeth. You can own a piece of ancient history, come on down and see for yourself!
